Providing solutions for low volume production needs by utilizing tool-less fabrication technologies. CalRAM specializes in providing cost effective rapid manufacturing to clients requiring small batches of titanium and other metal parts using cutting edge technology.

Electron beam melting is revolutionizing the metal parts industry the way digital printing revolutionized the printing industry. Customers needing small batches of titanium or other metal parts no longer need to undertake the lengthy prototype and tool and die process. Not only are these parts more structurally sound, the EBM technology allows for more geometric freedom in design as well as more precise production of very intricate details.

Electron Beam Melting (EBM ®)
  • Electrons are emitted from a filament which is heated to > 2500°C.
  • The electrons are accelerated through the anode to half the speed of light.
  • A magnetic field lens brings the beam into focus.
  • Another magnetic field controls the movement of the beam.

  • When the electrons hit the powder kinetic energy is transformed to heat.

  • The heat melts the metal powder
